Curating Atmosphere at MISCELLANEOUS

When I first walked into MISCELLANEOUS, it struck me as more than a dining spot — it was a mood, a curated vibe that demanded to be part of something greater. As a tour manager and event coordinator, I’ve worked with countless venues, but collaborating with the team at MISCELLANEOUS offered something rare: a chance to help shape a cultural experience, not just a show.

Located in a vibrant urban pocket — equal parts understated and intriguing — MISCELLANEOUS walks the line between a modern dining space and an art-forward social club. Their team approached me with the idea of integrating live music into their culinary calendar: low-key jazz trios on Thursday nights, electronic ambient sets for late-night dining, and pop-up DJ sets to close out weekend service.

Together, we transformed their dining room into a stage — literally and metaphorically. We designed modular setups that didn’t interfere with the restaurant’s sleek layout but could adapt for intimate performances. I helped coordinate sound systems, artist bookings, and lighting concepts that respected the space’s warm minimalism while enhancing its energy after sunset.

The result? A seamless blend of taste and tone. Patrons came for the cuisine — inventive without being pretentious — but stayed for the atmosphere. And that atmosphere was alive. A carefully chosen setlist can elevate a risotto just as much as the right wine pairing.

Working with MISCELLANEOUS reminded me why I love what I do: when food, music, and ambiance intersect with intention, something unforgettable happens. Whether I was booking talent, planning an event arc, or coordinating with the chef over timing, every detail contributed to a larger story — one the guests could feel, even if they didn’t know how it all came together.
